Looking for something a little different to add to your favorite grilled dishes this holiday weekend? Give this super simple Avocado Crema a try.


I had the ladies over for some wine pairing tastings a couple weeks ago and this simple addition went so well with halibut tacos, steak lettuce wraps, and even grilled salmon.

You will need:
1 container crema (in the grocery store next to the sour cream)
2 small avocados (or 1 large)
Fresh jalapeno. (I used a serrano because my jalapeno died)

Combine the crema, a handful of cilantro (no real measurement, just toss some in there), avocado, juice of 1 lime, a few slices of the pepper, and a pinch of salt. How much of the pepper is up to you. Keep in mind that the flavor builds very quickly and continues to do so. Like heat? Then go for it. Not so much? Start with a couple slices.

DSCF4674Blend well, taste and adjust. Want more cilantro or lime? Toss it in there and give it another blend.

DSCF4680Put it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use. (Easy make-ahead condiment)

To serve, place in a bowl on the table or in a squeeze bottle for ease.



Try it with beef, fish, chicken, as a “slaw” dressing, a dip or any other way you can imagine.
